We like to support charities that promote accessible gaming. The main charity in the UK is the small but enthusiastic Special Effect.

Special Effect have been actively fundraising and last year we helped by donating a Trabasack for the raffle at the Intellect charity ball. Maybe next year Clare and I will be able to attend!

We have also donated trabasacks for Special Effect to use during their open days and roadshows. These events give children and adults a chance to try out new technology that makes gaming for people with disabilities easier. The pictures on our accessible gaming home page were taken by Special Effect at an accessible gaming roadshow event at the Children’s Trust. Special Effect have just opened a new Accessible Video Games Centre, in Witney, Oxfordshire.  The new centre is a place where people can drop-in to try out SpecialEffect’s adapted computers and consoles. They have some amazing new eye gaze technology which allows you to play games using eye movements, as well as adapted controllers and mounting aids such as trabasack.

The profile and importance of accessible gaming is growing and they also had a visit from the PM David Cameron!

David Cameron is also the local MP for Witney, where the Hub is based and attended the launch of Special Effect in 2008. They are very lucky to have such a high profile MP! We are looking forward to seeing more photographs from the visit, the one we really want to see is the PM holding a Trabasack! I will of course, keep you posted.
